Why Milfoil?

Milfoil is a type of sea weed that originated in Asia.  It made its way to North America by getting attaching itself to shipping boats.  It  is now ravishing through the eco-system in our lakes in Upstate NY.  Not only is the sea weed a nuisance, it also makes it much more difficult for the fish to survive in the lake.  Milfoil takes over the vegetation and leaves no room for natural sea weed, which the fish use as food.  Also, it contributes to eutrophication, the process where algae and weeds consume the water's oxygen, threatening to turn shimmering lakes into stagnant swamps.
